Ron Flowers Future Green Leaders Scholarship
Ron Flowers was the first executive director of The Greater Washington Region Clean Cities Coalition and was a trailblazer promoting clean transportation energy in the DMV. We have named the Ron Flowers Future Green Leaders Scholarship in his honor.
In 2023, GWRCCC created the Future Green Leaders (FGL) Program, a 6-week program that focuses on teaching young people the importance of leadership, financial empowerment and green jobs that promote a cleaner, healthier community and planet. Students in this program become well-informed about sustainability and environmental basics. For information about the program, please go to this page.
GWRCCC wants to provide financial support of $1000 to a graduating senior pursuing a college level degree. To apply for the Ron Flowers Future Green Leaders Scholarship, students are required to write one paragraph that states what they plan to do to help improve the environment. The paragraph must be 150 words or more. Students should submit their name, grade level, school that they currently attend, college that they plan to attend, and any extracurricular activities they have participated in. Due July 31, 2025
