At GWRCCC, we believe that clean, vibrant communities are the foundation of a sustainable future. Our Beautification Programs bring this vision to life by organizing and supporting cleanup events that restore pride and promote environmental stewardship across the region.

We collaborate with local residents, volunteers, businesses, and partner organizations to remove litter, sort recyclables, and enhance public spaces through hands-on cleanups and light greening. These efforts improve air quality, protect waterways, and create safer, more inviting routes for walking, biking, and public transit.

Together, we revitalize shared spaces such as nature trails, parks, recreation areas, playgrounds, transit corridors, and neighborhood streets throughout DC, Maryland, and Virginia. By making these areas cleaner and more accessible, we support GWRCCC’s broader mission to advance clean transportation solutions and encourage low-emission travel choices for all.

From neighborhood litter pickups to large-scale community cleanups, our efforts aim to:

How it works

1. Partner: We team up with community and youth groups, environmental, businesses, faith based organizations, and local agencies to identify cleanup sites that matter most.
2. Prepare: GWRCCC or Partners provide all the essentials—gloves, bags, grabbers, safety vests—and a quick safety briefing to get everyone ready.
3. Serve: Volunteers roll up their sleeves for a 2–3 hour cleanup that’s welcoming to all ages and abilities.
4. Celebrate: We capture before-and-after photos and share results with participants and partners to highlight the collective impact.
